How do I set up the Shoutcast authhash?

When running a Shoutcast server, you’ll want to ensure your authorization hash is set up correctly so your station will appear in the Shoutcast Directory.

The Shoutcast authhash has changed as of v2.6.1. Please see our updated article on how to create a Shoutcast authhash and get listed in the directory.

What is an authorization hash you ask? Basically, it’s like a long password that verifies your station and allows it to be picked up by Shoutcast.com’s index, opening your stream up to millions of Internet radio listeners daily.

So how do I do it?

  1. You’ll need to get to the SHOUTcast D.N.A.S admin page (this sounds way more confusing than it is, we promise, stick with us).
  2. To do so, login to your Centova account as you normally would.
  3. Now click Admin, found in the left-hand navigation.
  4. Brilliant, now you’re on the SHOUTcast D.N.A.S summary page.
Make your way to the top right-hand corner before clicking Server Login.
  5. A modal popup will appear, asking for your login credentials. Try these:
    Username: admin
    Password:
(The admin password you use to login to your Centova account).
  6. Awesome, we’re almost there. Now click Create Authhash.
  7. Fill in the details as requested.
  8. Save and refresh.
  9. Congrats! Your Shoutcast radio station will now be public and should appear in the Shoutcast.com directory within 5 minutes.
